      Biography

     My name is Jan Ferris and I have been a teacher now for 27 years.  My teaching experience includes: preschool, kindergarten, first grade, and second grade.   I have my master's degree in Reading.

    I am married and my husband’s name is Dean.  We live in Bonfield. We have two adult children, Brenden, which is thirty years old and Ally, which is twenty seven years old.  I enjoy scrap-booking, children of all ages, and reading.

Communication Folders:  Your child will carry a pocket folder we call our "Take Home" folder back and forth to school everyday.  All of his/her checked papers will be in this folder. Communication Folders/Take Home Folders must be sent to school everyday.

Homework:  Homework will be sent every night from Monday through Thursday.  It will be an assignment which reinforces something we have been covering in class, or a review of something already covered.  It should take no longer than 10 to 15 minutes to complete.  Children are to return their homework the following day in their "Communication Folder". 

Bag Books:  Throughout the year, small paperback books will be sent home as a homework assignment.  These books and the bag need to be returned to school the following day.  It is important to return these books immediately because they are shared with the other First Grade classes.
